Lake Tahoe During Winter

You ever feel like your New Years expectations are this:

SAME.

So for New Years 2015 we decided to just do what we like doing best, hanging out in nature.

Jucy Rental Van

(a hot second at 0:06-0:07 and the inside at 0:42 – 0:54)

Since we are not about the freeze-our-faces-off-by-snow-camping-life, we rented a van from Jucy Rentals to be our home during this road trip. It was a great life choice, highly recommend.

From the beginning to about 0:41 – the open road from Los Angeles to our first hot springs.

Wild Willy’s Hot Spring

This was our first “camp” spot. And by camp spot I mean we slept inside our glorious van-home-on-wheels after cooking dinner out the back of it.

And thank goodness for homes on wheels + down sleeping bags because we would have surely died from the cold.

We decided to call it a night right when we pulled in since the sun was setting. It appeared as though people were still going down around dusk and taking head lamps, but we opted out. It was pretty pleasant during the day time even with the brisk winter air.

June Lake

If you happen to visit June Lake while not the middle of winter, I imagine it will look very different. Also you won’t be able to walk on it.

Mono Lake

According to the Mono Lake Committee this is an ancient saline lake. Meaning there are no fish that live in it, mostly brine shrimp, and it smells a little funky. There are also these limestone formations call tufa towers that are very unique and weird.

Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe is huge and SO MUCH WAS FROZEN.

Snow Shoeing to Fallen Leaf Lake

Since most of the earth was frozen, seemed like a great time to go snow shoeing and make some snows angels. I’m unsure if we actually made it since photos of Fallen Leaf Lake are very different than the winter wonderland we were in… But it was a great workout and awesome for two people that don’t know how to ski.
