Treehouse in the Dominican Republic
How does one end up in a treehouse in the rainforest? BY LIVING YOUR BEST LIFE.
I’m subscribed to The Clymb‘s newsletter on travel/adventure deals so when we saw “Luxury treehouse adventure” for an absurdly reasonable price to fulfill childhood dreams – we purchased it within 24 hours.
The voucher was for the Dominican Treehouse Village in Samana, and it was the actual best. Had we known how magical it would be (and how long it takes to actual get to the village), we would have opted for a longer stay slash never ever left.
Quick Logistics Rundown
- Adventure :: 4-Day Dominican Republic Treehouse Escape for 2
- Flew into :: Santo Domingo (SDQ). We were coming from the west coast so this was like a full travel day. We connected in Miami (MIA).
- Getting to Dominican Treehouse Village :: They offer a shuttle from the airport to DTV, which is super convenient because it was $150 USD for the both of us. It is unlikely that a taxi would charge us only $150 USD, and that they would know where to go. We were also able to get the same situation back to the airport for our departure.
Living in Actual Trees
(0:04 – 0:14)
This was a dream come true for us, like a straight up ewok village.
::heart eyes emoji::
The treehouses were nestled into the trees, everything was connected by rope bridges, the roofs were palms, and the rooms were open to the outside. (you can pull the curtains shut and there is mosquito netting around the bed)

Day 1 Excursion – ATV tour
(0:14 – 0:35)
We paid extra for this but it was well worth it. We drove 4 wheelers to a waterfall, local market where they let us sample things, a beach, a bar, and some other beautiful spots.

Afterwards we read in our hammocks and took naps. I’m including this here because even if all we did was read in our treehouse the whole time, it still would have been peak happiness.

Day 2 Excursion – Zip-lining
(0:36 – 0:56)
This. Was. Awesome.
You fly along/above/in the forest canopy.
At one point they rigged it so Drea and I could go together and a guy followed us with my GoPro which was amazing. My cheeks hurt from all the smiling.
At the end you could have a drink or coconut water – out of an actual coconut. Then were lead to a small lagoon where you could rope swing in. So the magic continued.

Day 2 Continued – Riding Bikes to the Beach
(0:57 – 1:08)
The cruiser bikes were actually included in our stay and we went down the road to what felt like a private beach because we were the only ones there. There was a small establishment where we ordered lunch. It was worth the wait. Basically we ordered what we wanted, and they went to market to get that exact meal.
Fun fact: this was the first time I was able to ride a bike and film at the same time. I am so uncoordinated and afraid of falling that I’ve never successfully taken a hand off the handlebars. But look how happy Drea is! I was willing to sacrifice skin and probably my pride to topple over in an effort to capture it.
Not Captured
Breakfast and dinner were also included in our stay. The day before they would provide the menu and we would “order”, it was basically a custom home cooked meal which we ate in the dining hall/bar/common area. The nights were a lot of fun because everyone sat at a long table and the owners and their children would join.
The staff is so friendly and it feels like you’re staying with family that you actually want to be visiting.
In Sum
- If you go, definitely go for more than 4 days. Slash never come back if you can manage it.
- Pay for the excursions, it’s worth it.
- But also spend copious amount of time reading in a hammock.
